Working Towards a Brighter Future
The Virginia Beach section offers scholarships to African American students or students of African-descent that are High School Seniors who have excelled academically and plan to pursue a college degree.
Completed application must be e-mailed to sonja.m.dickerson@gmail.com or mailed to the Virginia Beach Section of NCNW, Post Office Box 64793, 1225 Kempsville Rd., Virginia Beach, VA 23464-9998 by March 20, 2020.
SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS
Must be an African American or African-descent high school senior attending a public or private high school in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Students must submit an official High School Transcript.
Must have a GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
Must be planning to apply to an accredited institution of postsecondary education for the 2020-2021 academic year.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Completed scholarship application, postmarked by Friday, March 20, 2020 (Grammatically correct and legible).
Minimal GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale).
Completed High School Senior.
Official High School Transcript.
Essay of 300-350 words (doubled spaced, 12 pt. font TIFF).
Photo (Please attach a recent photograph of yourself to this application).
